Garmin has released a new software update that brings a host of improvements and bug fixes to Garmin Fenix 8, Fenix E, and Enduro 3. This latest update, version 12.14, can be conveniently installed directly on the watch, eliminating the need for a PC or a wired connection.
Beta Testing and Feature Limitations
While this is exciting news, it’s important to note that the update is currently in beta testing, meaning it’s only available to participants in Garmin’s beta program. As a result, two significant features have been temporarily disabled for users running firmware version 12.14: the ECG function and the dive mode.
Customization and Solar Enhancements
The new software introduces a highly anticipated feature for owners of the Solar models: the ability to customize the background color when creating custom watch faces. This addition provides users with even greater flexibility to personalize their timepieces.
Additionally, Garmin has refined the Music Glance feature, which now includes a new notification when the power-saving mode is activated.
Performance Boost and Bug Squashing
Perhaps the most significant improvement in this update is the potential for longer battery life. Garmin has addressed a bug that caused increased power consumption when using Connect IQ watch faces. Furthermore, these custom watch faces should now update correctly and display accurate information.
Other notable bug fixes include:
- Addressing various crash issues
- Improving the accuracy of sleep tracking
