Garmin has introduced a fresh firmware update tailored for a range of its smartwatches, aiming to address a multitude of issues and significantly enhance the user experience. The process of installing or requesting this update has been streamlined for user convenience.
Supported Models
The software version 17.15 is being released for various models of the Fenix 7 product family and their respective variants. These include the Epix and Epix Pro in all available sizes, the Fenix 7, 7 Pro, Fenix 7x, 7x Pro, Fenix 7s, 7s Pro, Enduro 2, Quatix 7, and MARQ Gen 2. However, the beta update is not available for the Tactix 7 or MARQ Aviator Gen2.
Bug Fixes and Improvements
While the update doesn’t introduce any new features, it is expected to bring two minor enhancements and fix numerous bugs. Garmin apparently discovered several issues in the old firmware that caused the watch to shut down unexpectedly or crash, occurring in multiple scenarios. These issues, such as problems with displaying the morning briefing, navigation, recommended workouts, or random crashes without apparent cause, are said to have been addressed.
Specific Bug Fixes
A bug in the energy-saving Expedition mode that led to incorrect displays of remaining battery life has been fixed. Similarly, a bug when using the Outdoor Maps+ has been rectified. The changelog also includes improvements to the Find My Phone and Messenger features.
Update Procedure
Participants enrolled in the beta program can effortlessly request the update directly through their smartwatch interface. Manual installation of the update is precluded. Notably, the EKG function, which remains officially disabled in certain regions, will be deactivated in adherence to standard protocol upon transitioning to beta firmware usage.
