Garmin has released beta version 12.21 for the Fenix 8, Fenix E, and Enduro 3 smartwatches. This update primarily focuses on addressing a critical bug that could cause the devices to crash unexpectedly. Additionally, Garmin has decided to temporarily remove the recently added Reference Point navigation app.

Change Log:

  1. Removed Reference Point App until the crash with ‘Use Map’ is fixed.
  2. Fixed a crash when searching for certain POI categories under Explore Nearby.

A Temporary Setback for Reference Point

In addition to the bug fix, Garmin has made a surprising decision to temporarily remove the recently introduced Reference Point navigation app. This feature, which was designed to enhance outdoor navigation experiences, provided users with a clear line of sight and bearing to their destination.

While the app was well-received, Garmin has encountered compatibility issues with the Use Map feature, forcing them to take this temporary measure. The company is actively working on resolving these issues and aims to reinstate the Reference Point app in a future update.

A Swift Rollout

Garmin is committed to delivering timely updates to its users. The beta update 12.21 is being distributed over-the-air to eligible users who have opted into the beta program. It’s expected that all participants will receive the update within the next 24 hours.

As Garmin continues to refine its software and hardware, users can look forward to future updates that will further enhance the capabilities of their Fenix devices. For more details, visit Garmin’s Official Forums.
