Garmin will soon be introducing the latest version of its smartwatches for outdoor use, the Instinct 2X (Solar). The new model is optionally equipped with an integrated solar panel, comes with an integrated “flashlight” and is even thicker than its predecessor.
If the Garmin Instinct 2 launched last year was not exactly compact, the new Garmin Instinct 2X Solar will probably be a bit bulkier. At least that is what marketing renders that have appeared in advance, which are already showing the new outdoor smartwatch, suggest this. The speculation that the device with a diameter of 57 millimeters will be the largest Garmin watch to date seems to be true.
Garmin Instinct 2X Solar in Black:
Although our pictures only show the Instinct 2X Solar, the version without an integrated solar panel in the display should not look any different. It is striking that Garmin again uses a monochrome display surrounded by a very wide border. The front cover is attached with clearly visible screws.
Garmin Instinct 2X (Solar) in Red/Orange:
Flashlight, the color of your choice, The button layout, and the design differ noticeably from the previous model. Garmin obviously integrates an innovation at the top of the Instinct 2X: a flashlight. It’s probably nothing more than one or more brightly lit LEDs that can help the wearer navigate in the dark.
Optionally, you can probably also change the color of the LED(s), in order to be more visible to rescuers in emergency situations, for example. Apart from that! little should change in terms of functionality, but we don’t have any information on this yet. What is certain is that the Garmin Instinct 2X (Solar) is also particularly suitable for hikers and extreme athletes, for whom it enables GPS support and the tracking of certain activities, among other things.
As usual! it is operated using a row of hardware buttons located on the edge of the case. As before, the Garmin Instinct 2X will obviously also be suitable for anglers and hunters, because there are the corresponding tracking modes again. The “normal” smartwatch features such as receiving messages and recording the heart rate and the like are of course back on board.
