Garmin has released a new beta software update (version 12.16) for its Fenix 8, Fenix E, and Enduro 3 smartwatches. This update, currently being rolled out to 50% of users, brings a range of new features and improvements.

While the update brings a slew of new features and fixes, it’s important to note that ECG and Dive features will be temporarily unavailable on the Fenix 8 series devices during the beta period.

Key Features and Improvements:

  • New Watch Face: A fresh Epix Pro watch face has been added to the lineup, offering users more customization options.
  • Enhanced Active App Indicator: The Active App Indicator now features a background circle, making it easier to identify active apps at a glance.
  • Sail Expedition Activity: A new Sail Expedition activity has been introduced, providing dedicated tracking and data recording for sailing enthusiasts.
  • Language Lock During Activities: To prevent accidental language changes during workouts or activities, the update includes a feature that locks the language setting.
  • Touch Settings in CIQ Activities: Users can now enable touch settings within Connect IQ activities, allowing for more intuitive interaction with third-party apps.

Bug Fixes and Performance Improvements:

In addition to the new features, the update addresses various bug fixes and performance improvements, including:

  • Resolving issues with the Ephemeris data display on the About page.
  • Fixing problems with copying Multisport Activity Profiles in Garmin Connect Mobile (GCM).
  • Addressing the issue of Expedition mode not recording the first GPS point.
  • Correcting incorrect icons and text layouts in various screens.
  • Improving the Outdoor Maps+ area selection process and fixing other map-related issues.
  • Refining the Number Pad user interface for a more streamlined experience.
