0

Amazfit has officially launched ZeppOS 4.0, bringing cutting-edge AI features to the forefront. The Amazfit Active and Balance are the first devices to support this updated software, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of smartwatches.

Reflecting on the Success of ZeppOS 3.5

To truly understand the advancements in ZeppOS 4.0, we need to revisit ZeppOS 3.5. This previous version debuted with the Amazfit Balance and introduced Zepp Flow, a smart conversation engine that allowed users to interact with their watches via voice commands. ZeppOS 3.5 also featured offline maps, image message syncing, and enhanced health tracking.

Over the past months, Zepp Health has extended ZeppOS 3.5 to other models in its range. The Amazfit Active received the update in May, and beta tests for the T-Rex Ultra and Falcon hinted at future updates. This steady stream of improvements laid the groundwork for the eagerly awaited ZeppOS 4.0.

Innovations in ZeppOS 4.0

ZeppOS 4.0 revolutionizes smartwatch capabilities by incorporating OpenAI’s GPT-4 technology, pushing the boundaries of what these devices can do. Here are the standout features of this new update:

Smarter Zepp Flow

With GPT-4 integration, Zepp Flow now offers more sophisticated natural language interactions. Users can manage their devices, respond to messages, and make Bluetooth calls using voice commands, eliminating the need for specific keywords or physical input.

Multilingual Support

Zepp Flow now supports verbal responses in English and German, with additional languages like French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese expected by late July.

Enhanced Bluetooth Functionality

ZeppOS 4.0 expands the range of controllable devices, including Sonos speakers, Garmin cycling meters, GoPro, and DJI action cameras, providing greater flexibility and convenience.

Expanded Mini Apps Ecosystem

The update introduces a broader array of mini apps focused on health and fitness. Notably, the Workout Extension mini-app allows users to customize their watch interface during exercise sessions.

AI-Enhanced Wellness Solutions

ZeppOS 4.0 deepens AI integration within the Zepp Health ecosystem. From AI-driven sleep guidance in Zepp Aura to real-time fitness coaching in Zepp Coach, this update enhances the overall user experience. It also includes new workouts like Pickleball and Padel, just in time for summer, along with a new fishing mode.

Upgraded Zepp Coach

Zepp Coach now offers training guidance modes based on either pace or heart zone. After each workout, users receive a single-session training score, enabling them to evaluate their performance. The update also introduces Vo2Max measurement for trail runners and support for running power meters.

Night Shift Mode on Balance

The Balance watch now features a Night Shift mode, allowing users to select between red, orange, or green screen filters to promote better sleep.

Availability and Future Updates

ZeppOS 4.0 is currently available for the Amazfit Balance and Amazfit Active. Zepp Health plans to extend support to the Amazfit T-Rex Ultra, Falcon, and Cheetah series later in 2024, ensuring continuous development and enhancement of their smartwatch offerings.
