  1. HW8 Ultra Smartwatch review (19/11/2022)

    Pro’s
Large & clear LCD IPS screen
    Good pixel density

    Con’s

Limited notifications. No FB Messinger, Ring Doorbell
    No Yahoo/Outlook email support
    No iCal/Calander support
Vibration is weak and too short when notifications do come thru even on the highest settings
Temp, BP, O2 Sats, and Blood glucose are all fake
Limited watch faces (compared with DT100) & some are chargeable
Fast battery drain when in operation (31% drain in 6 hours of use at 20% brightness)
Lots of invasive adverts in app
Buggy app. Often fails to install new watch faces

So after watching numerous YouTube reviews I settled on upgrading to the HW8 Ultra Smart Watch. I have been using the DT100 for the last year and although it hasn’t given me any issues I wanted an upgrade to newer model.

Received my watch yesterday and let me get straight to the point… I am disappointed.

Yes, it’s a nice matt anodes metal frame with some weight and the screen is bright even at 20% indoors with a responsive touch screen, but there are just too many negatives.

For me, one of the key functions is receiving notifications so I don’t miss them. Not only does it not support some of the most basic apps (FB Messenger, Ring Doorbell), it does support all Enterprise email apps/accounts (no Outlook or Yahoo support) and when it does notify you the vibration is less than a second long and extremely weak, but the “drink water” reminder last for almost 3 seconds! I suspect they have used the same vibration motor from previous models which were lighter and as such less effective.

The interesting aspect is that a YouTuber (iMAT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQ2_8geTwc0&t=304s) does show the WearFit Pro displaying the ability to receive notifications in the app (forward to 2mins 49 seconds).

The other main complaint is the WearFit Pro app. Which is buggy and riddled with pop-up adverts and constant banners throughout the app. There are also a number of settings which the user is required to tweak and let “unknown apps install” which is never safe to do (firmware 1.02). This is not the case with WearPro App for DT100 on my Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Loading new watch faces is also an issue that has required me to factory reset my watch twice (remember I have only had the watch for 2 days now) due to failure to load any new watch faces.

The Blood Pressure, O2 Saturation & Heart Rate monitor are all fake (see pictures), but then what would you expect? Battery drainage for the 1st day was high with what I would consider moderate usage with a screen on time of around 2.5 – 3hrs at 20% brightness.

Hardware wise the unit is ok (minus the fake Blood Pressure, O2 Saturation & Heart Rate monitor), but poorly let down by the software which desperately needs an overhaul to fix the forementioned issues.

At this time. I couldn’t recommend this unit to other prospective buyers.
