Garmin has released a new beta software update, version 25.21, for its popular Edge 1040, 540, and 840 cycling computers. This update aims to address a number of issues reported by users and introduce some minor enhancements.
To install the 25.21 beta update, users can navigate to the Main Menu on their Edge device, select “System,” then “About,” and finally “Check For Updates.” Once the update is available, it can be downloaded and installed.
The key changes included in this beta update are as follows:
- Fixed Map Layer Issues: A problem where data screens with maps were displaying incorrect layers has been resolved.
- Addressed Erratic Grade Values: The issue causing grade values to behave erratically after suspending and resuming activities has been fixed.
- Corrected Stamina Distance Units: The units displayed for Stamina Distance to Go have been standardized.
- Updated Computer Connection Icon: The icon shown when the Edge device is connected to a computer has been refreshed.
- Prevented Unexpected Shutdowns: A crash that could occur during power down has been eliminated.
It’s important to note that this is a beta update, which means it may contain unforeseen bugs or stability issues. If you encounter any problems after installing the update, you can revert to a previous stable version.
Garmin encourages users to participate in the beta program to help identify and resolve issues before the official release. By providing feedback and reporting bugs, users can contribute to the improvement of future software updates.
